On this episode of the Front Parking Spot podcast, host Jennifer Bosma welcomes Christian business coach Melissa Harms to walk moms through identifying and launching a God-led business without sacrificing family time. Melissa shares her personal story — how she left teaching, started a profitable photography business, and later built two more businesses while staying at home — and why she’s passionate about helping moms build sustainable ventures in 20 hours a week or less.
The conversation covers spiritual and practical starting points: begin with prayer and trusted Christian mentors, but don’t wait for a lightning-bolt revelation — take the first step and let clarity follow. Melissa introduces a Venn diagram approach to test business ideas: intersect passion, unique gifts/experiences, and a real market need. She explains why all three elements are necessary to move from hobby to income-generating business.
Melissa then breaks down her SIMPLE business plan to get a business off the ground quickly: Specify your person (narrow your audience), Identify the problem you solve, Make an irresistible offer (one focused solution), Pick your platform (where your people hang out), Lean into consistency, and Expand later with systems and automations. She emphasizes starting with one audience, one problem, one offer, and one platform so moms can launch and learn fast.
The episode also tackles common fears and balance issues: practical tips for keeping businesses to ~20 hours/week, why strategy and mentorship prevent wasted time, and how to evaluate boundaries so both motherhood and entrepreneurship can be fruitful. Melissa addresses pricing and freebies head-on — why charging increases perceived value and client commitment, and how investment drives action and results.
Resources and next steps are provided for listeners who want hands-on help: Melissa offers one-on-one coaching (weekly 45-minute calls plus Voxer access), free discovery calls, a YouTube video podcast under Melissa Harms Coaching, and The Melissa Harms Show on Apple Podcasts and Spotify. The episode closes with encouragement to trust God’s leading, be present in each role, and move forward with faith — an Ephesians 3:20 type of charge to go for your front parking spot.

In this episode of the Front Parking Spot podcast host Jennifer Bosma talks with Nathan Graham — AI entrepreneur, author, and founder of Synthetic Echo — about gaming dependency, screen time struggles, and how parents can protect and restore their children’s identity in Christ. Nathan, author of Why Won’t He Just Log Off?, draws on his own experience as a recovering gamer, his background in psychology and neuroplasticity, and practical work with families to explain why games and social media can become so compelling.
The conversation explores the psychological needs that games satisfy (certainty, adventure, significance, and loving connection) and the two deeper soul needs (growth and contribution). Nathan outlines how gaming provides dopamine feedback, social belonging, and measurable achievement — often fulfilling multiple core needs at once — and why simply taking devices away can be traumatic or ineffective.
Key takeaways include approaching kids with curiosity rather than judgment, using the "three deep questions" to uncover the real motives behind screen use, and partnering with your child to co-create boundaries. Practical steps for parents: enter your child’s world (play with them or engage through the platforms they use), build connection first, offer healthier alternatives that meet the same needs (sports, faith communities, mentorship), and combine clear rules with grace and ongoing relationship.
Jennifer and Nathan also discuss faith-centered solutions: how a personal relationship with Christ and community in the church can fulfill identity and belonging, and why law (rules) plus grace (relationship) is necessary to change hearts. Nathan shares resources — his book Why Won’t He Just Log Off? and SyntheticEcho.com — and encourages parents and church leaders to replace isolation and punishment with understanding, participation, and spiritual formation.
Listeners will walk away with a deeper view of why young people are drawn to gaming and social media, concrete conversation starters and strategies for reconnecting with teens, and faith-based practices that help children find identity and significance beyond the digital world. Join host Jennifer Bosma on the Front Parking Spot podcast as she interviews Justin Bennett — former banker turned financial coach who has helped over 1,000 clients pay off a combined $10 million in debt. Justin shares his personal story of going from $100,000+ in debt and near-foreclosure to financial freedom, and the practical principles that changed everything.
Topics covered include how to do a full money audit, why monthly budgeting (not one-time tracking) matters, and the power of a zero-based budget that gives every dollar a job. Justin explains the debt snowball method — why paying smallest balances first combines math and emotion to build momentum — and contrasts it with the debt avalanche approach.
Justin and Jennifer also tackle everyday money leaks: recurring subscriptions, one-click online buying, and how to create friction (remove auto-logins, clear saved cards) so you spend less and enjoy purchases more. Listeners will get actionable steps: track 30 days of transactions, list debts smallest-to-largest, build an emergency fund, and reassign leftover dollars toward goals instead of calling them “miscellaneous.”
The episode addresses money in marriage, highlighting the need to align on key areas (religion, money, in-laws, kids) and to create shared money principles so couples manage finances together. Justin introduces his 3P framework and emphasizes clear monthly communication, joint budgeting, and accountability to avoid long-term friction.
Justin’s book Level Up Your Finances is discussed — a practical guide with step-by-step budgeting help, motivation strategies for when you fall off the wagon, and resources to stay accountable. Find the book at levelupyourfinances.com and on major retailers; Justin offers a free one-hour consultation on his site.
This episode is tailored for faith-based moms (and families) who want tangible, faith-friendly strategies to regain control of their money, reduce stress, strengthen marriage finances, and move from “winging it” to confident stewardship. Tune in for faith-centered encouragement plus clear, usable steps to begin cutting debt and building financial freedom.

Join host Jennifer Bosma on the Front Parking Spot podcast as she talks with Pesa and Whitney Shayo, a Kenyan-American couple married for 20+ years who help cross-cultural Christian couples build a united front. This episode explores how marriages can be strengthened through faith-centered priorities, respectful boundary-setting with relatives, and practical ways to align husbands, wives, and children in their spiritual lives.
Pesa and Whitney share their story of homeschooling four children while balancing work, culture, and extended-family expectations. They discuss concrete homeschooling tips—how they co-teach, divide roles (teacher vs. administrator), rely on teamwork, and use modern resources and co-ops to avoid isolation. They also warn about pitfalls such as family WhatsApp groups that exclude one spouse, leading to surprises or resentment.
Key topics include identifying recurring “unity zones,” the priest’s five-priority formula (God, spouse, children/extended family, job, hobby), and how couples from collectivist and individualist backgrounds can honor their parents while protecting their marriage. Practical relationship tools are offered: date your spouse, regain friendship-first habits, listen with willingness, air upsets privately to avoid volcanic blowups, and create a safe space for different communication styles.
Actionable tips listeners can use right away: set clear boundaries with grace, always bring important decisions to your spouse first, schedule regular couple time, pray aloud together (even five minutes in the morning), and give each other the benefit of the doubt. Real-life examples and cultural insights make these ideas accessible for both single-culture and cross-cultural families.

In this episode of the Front Parking Spot podcast host Jennifer Bosma sits down with Dr. Carla Coturia, an elite peak performance coach and creator of The RISE Model, to discuss how parents can raise resilient, emotionally healthy teens in a high-pressure world. Carla draws on work with over 10,000 teens to explain why achievement can become a mask for unmet emotional needs and how faith, identity, and practical habits restore balance.
Carla breaks down the RISE framework—regulating your state, building daily habits, taking integrated (inspired) action, and redefining identity—to help teens perform without burning out. She emphasizes emotional intelligence and self-trust as the foundation for sustainable success and explains common patterns she sees in teens: anxiety, burnout, and an achievement-based identity that erodes confidence.
The episode offers actionable parenting guidance: regulate your own state before reacting, step back instead of fixing problems for your teen, give autonomy and meaningful choices, celebrate effort over outcome, and allow space for identity development. Carla also unpacks anxiety—what’s normal versus what becomes harmful—and gives simple tools for acknowledging and letting emotions pass.
Faith and surrender are woven throughout the conversation: trusting God’s plan for your child, praying through big decisions, and recognizing that purpose may lead teens to unexpected paths (including alternatives to a traditional four-year college). Practical next steps include taking small, consistent habits seriously, encouraging pause and celebration, and supporting teens in identity development rather than performance alone.
For listeners who want more, Carla shares ways to connect (Instagram, Facebook, YouTube) and mentions an upcoming course for families. Tune in to hear honest examples, real coaching moments, and faith-rooted encouragement for guiding your teen toward confident, authentic, and sustainable success.

Join host Jennifer Bosma and guest Shilo Creed (best‑selling, multi‑award author and youth pastor) as they discuss how to raise children who can recognize truth in today’s confusing culture. This episode covers how a personal encounter with mortality transformed Shilo’s faith and parenting priorities, and why living out faith publicly — from missions to everyday acts of trust — helps kids see God’s power in real life.
Topics include practical ways to move from anxiety to trust, renewing your mind with Scripture, giving children a lasting understanding of salvation, and creating family rhythms (devotions, sharing highs and lows, service) that make faith personal rather than merely inherited. Jennifer and Shilo emphasize the importance of involving kids when parents take faith risks so children can witness God’s faithfulness firsthand.
They address navigating cultural pressures at school and in society, equipping teens with Scripture as a firm foundation, and helping kids develop resilience when their faith draws pushback. Shilo shares how Christian fiction — including her sci‑fi novel Plunged — can inspire courage and spiritual growth in teens and adults alike.
Expect down‑to‑earth examples (mission trips, tithing, ministry involvement), youth‑pastor wisdom on talking with teenagers, and practical tips for moms to teach Scripture application in the car, at the dinner table, and during life’s unexpected storms. The episode closes with resources for connecting with Shilo and links in the show notes for her books and recommended next steps.

On this episode of the Front Parking Spot podcast, host Jennifer Bosma speaks with Kim Patton — an adoptive and foster mom living in Ohio, author, and podcast host — about her winding journey from infertility to open adoption and two years of fostering teenage girls. Kim shares candid stories about the chaos and beauty of mixed family life, what open adoption looks like in practice, and how faith shaped her decisions along the way.
Topics covered include: Kim’s personal adoption story and why she chose open adoption; the realities of fostering teenagers alongside young biological children; practical ways to get involved in foster care (from volunteering and respite care to becoming licensed); how to pursue fostering as a united couple and the importance of prayer; and simple, everyday ways to serve and teach children empathy and life skills.
Kim also offers spiritual and emotional guidance for moms navigating hard seasons — infertility, marital struggle, grief, or parenting challenges — encouraging listeners to find identity in Christ (referencing Ephesians), to take negative thoughts captive, and to practice grace with themselves. She emphasizes keeping conversations positive about birth families, preparing kids for identity questions, and continuing to pray for foster children even after they leave your home.
Practical takeaways and resources highlighted: start slowly if you feel called to foster (volunteer, provide respite, or support local foster families), keep your spouse involved and committed, use open adoption to maintain respectful relationships with birth families when possible, and prioritize prayer and honest conversations with your children. Kim recommends Rosaria Butterfield’s The Gospel Comes with the House Key for inspiration on radical hospitality and mentions her own work — the book Nothing Wasted Struggling Well Through Difficult Seasons and a Foster Mama Journal — plus her Book Therapy podcast and KimPatton.com as places to learn more.
Listeners can expect a faith-centered, practical, and heartfelt conversation full of real-life examples, actionable next steps for getting involved in foster or adoption work, and encouragement for moms to rest in God’s identity and purpose during every season of family life.

Join host Jennifer Bosma on the Front Parking Spot podcast as she interviews husband-and-wife team Eric and Mayana Fredrickson of Recovering Reality. This episode is tailored for faith-based moms who want practical, spiritually grounded help for themselves and their families. Expect personal stories, honest testimony, and actionable next steps for spiritual growth.
Eric shares his journey from 13 years trapped in addiction to more than 17 years of sobriety, describing overdose, courts, rehabs, and a radical encounter with Jesus. A biblical life coach and bestselling author, he brings 7,000+ hours of one-on-one coaching and a core message: sobriety isn’t enough—lasting freedom comes from addressing the identity and beliefs beneath the behavior. Mayana, originally from Brazil and a longtime follower of Christ, explains how she helps women rediscover identity in Christ, overcome cultural conditioning, and lead with emotional and spiritual maturity while homeschooling their three boys.
Topics covered include the difference between religion and relationship, renewing the mind (Romans 12:2), practical spiritual disciplines (a simple morning routine of reading, writing and prayer; suggested Scripture reading from Psalms, Proverbs and the Gospels; journaling and fasting), and how encounters with God accelerate transformation. They discuss how community, consistency and discipline unlock growth, and how lifestyle evangelism and hospitality reveal a distinct Christian witness.
Key takeaways include the distinction between condemnation and conviction, why identity in Christ matters more than behavior modification, how the 12-step principles connect to Scripture, and the importance of intentionally choosing what you feed your mind. The episode also highlights cultural differences around community and offers encouragement for moms feeling isolated or stuck.
Resources and next steps: Eric and Mayana explain how to connect with Recovering Reality (podcast, YouVersion devotionals, Instagram) and invite listeners to a free breakthrough call to clarify where they are and how coaching might help. Tune in to hear hope-filled testimony, practical tools, and faith-based coaching ideas to help you and your family walk in greater freedom and identity in Christ.

Hey There, Mama!

Welcome to the Front Parking Spot Podcast!

It seems like yesterday when I was taking all three of my daughters (ages 6,4,2) to a local amusement park. I had a year pass, so why not? Driving up, the parking lot was packed. It seemed I needed to head for the back. I decided to take a chance, and I went for the front parking spots, and guess what? There wasn't one but two open spots! I zipped into one of them and unloaded. A life theme had just begun. So many people settle for the back spots, but it's usually available if you take a chance and go for the front parking spot. How does this relate to your life? In every way imaginable with God at the helm. So, live by Ephesians 3:20 and go for the front parking spot in your life today. If you take the chance and go for it, you'll be amazed at how the opportunities will open up!
